Malta Enterprise

GET QUALIFIED is a scheme designed to support individuals in their personal and professional development by helping them attain industry-recognised qualifications and certifications. This scheme applies to those enrolled in courses leading to certifications, diplomas, degrees, or postgraduate qualifications. Upon successful completion of their studies, participants are eligible for a tax credit that reimburses a portion of their educational expenses.

Scheme Summary

This incentive is primarily aimed at individuals who have completed their formal education and wish to further their studies in fields that are relevant to Maltese industries.

Successful students will be awarded a tax credit covering 70% of the eligible costs, with the maximum amount capped according to the MQF level of the qualification attained.

Eligible Qualifications

a. A qualification will be considered eligible if it is approved at Level 3 or above on the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF).

b. In the case of specialised training that does not have an MQF level rating, eligibility will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

c. The qualification or certification must be awarded based on merit and verified through an assessment method specific to that particular qualification or certification.

d. Vocational learning programmes, while being occupation-specific, must also incorporate practical knowledge—either based on practice or by including a practical component. Ideally, this should also form part of the assessment process. It is widely recognised that applied practice significantly enhances the effective acquisition of knowledge and skills.
